Today's The Day

I'm hitting the grocery store today.

The plan... Get 1 month of groceries and not go back until next month. I've been preparing for this trip for the last couple days.

I've taken inventory of what we have to include cat food and litter, dog food, shampoos and soaps and cleaning supplies not to mention food. I want to make sure I don't have to go back for anything!

Next I got together with the kids and let them pick several meals to have during the month. The list includes Pizza, tacos, chicken and dumplings, spaghetti and meatballs, mac and cheese, plus many other kids favorites. My daughter wants General Tso's chicken so I've been combing the web for a recipe.

Then I made my shopping list to include the ingredients for the suggested meals, the meals I've chosen to fill up the rest of the menu and breakfast and lunch box supplies. I'm going to be using my crockpot on the days I work so I don't have to worry about making dinner when I get home.

The last thing I did was clip the coupons I have that correspond with the shopping list. If I don't need it I didn't clip it! Now I just have to gather up my shopping bags and hit the store after I take the kids to school.

Wow, I'm impressed. It would certainly be a dream come true to only have to shop once a month.

I'm not sue we have the capacity to house a month's worth of groceries.

We have a good size freezer and a large pantry. So in that I have to say we are lucky.

The hard part will be staying away from the store instead of doing with out what ever we happen to run out of ;)

hope you got everything you've listed in your shopping list. i usually create a shopping list but sometimes, the items are out of stock that i need to go back again or have to try another store.

it's good to hear that you have a big freezer. saves you time, effort and energy!

Well I got almost everything Twitterer. I couldn't find the little dried red peppers for the General Tso's chicken so I'm going to have to look up a specialty store but I did get everything else :D

You will have to let me know how it goes. however, what do you do when the milk spoils and the veggies get yucky?
